Like most everything in 2020, Black Friday sales look a little different this year.
With coronavirus cases on the rise, several retailers are extending their Black Friday events and giving shoppers early holiday perks in-store to help mitigate an influx of customers and adhere to social distancing measures. Many of these deals are also being offered online to encourage customers to shop from the comfort and safety of their own homes. Target, Kohl’s and Old Navy are already offering holiday deals in-store and online ahead of the shopping extravaganza. E-commerce behemoth Amazon is also holding pre-Black Friday sales.
Keep in mind that although many stores will be open on Black Friday, they may be closed on Thanksgiving Day unlike in years past. As COVID-19 continues to shake up the retail industry, Foot Locker, Walmart and Dick’s Sporting Goods are among the companies that have announced that they will dim their lights on Nov. 26 and give employees the holiday off. Several malls also plan to be closed on Turkey Day, including the 108 locations owned by CBL Properties and the 200 locations owned by Simon Property Group.
